Four persons sentenced to 10 years RI for drug possession

A court on Saturday sentenced four persons, including a former councillor, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Additional sessions judge Tejinder Singh also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on Gobind Singh, Saba Singh, Dalip Singh and Raj Singh. Gobind Singh is a former councillor of Sunam.

The local police arrested the four men on August 30, 2007 and seized nine quintals of poppy husk from them.

Another accused Bhagat Singh was declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
