Gandhi to take legal action against AAP disciplinary committee
Terming the disciplinary committee of the party as prejudiced, Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Monday announced to file a defamation case against Dalip Pandey and Deepak Bajpai, the members of recently constituted National Disciplinary action committee of Aam Aadmi Party, for charging him for hobnobbing with the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Till yesterday I was branded as a supporter of Yogendra Yadav and Parshant Bhushan and interestingly overnight their judgment about me has been changed to be a Pro Akali Person. They will have to eat the dust in this misadventure, said a visibly angry Dr Gandhi.
Pandey and Dalip are members of Disciplinary Committee, which AAP has constituted to probe charges against suspended MPs Dr Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa. Both the members of committee had charged Khalsa and Gandhi as having lineage with the Akali Dal.
"I ridiculed the media comment of Pandey and Bajpai for labelling unsubstantiated and totally baseless charges against him and Khalsa, of conniving with the Akali-BJP government to weaken the party in the state. I never expected the central leadership to stoop so low. Either they should present a proof of the meeting, telephone call record or any picture, or they would face a defamation case," Dr Gandhi said.
Challenging the sanctity of the disciplinary committee, Gandhi wondered how the members of the disciplinary committee could give their verdict on Khalsa and me even before hearing them.
He said, "A known political turncoat, Chhotepur, with the blessings of some leaders in Delhi is conspiring with the Akali Dal to change the character of the party and render it into AAP, minus its ideology and principles, thus playing into the hands of Akali-BJP leaders," he alleged.
"Punjab is not Delhi. Stop misguiding the country by labelling baseless allegations against us. Punjabis are not going to buy your absurd arguments. Who has the Akali soul and who is Anti-Akalis, people know it well. I have been in politics with a clear head, even before Pandey and Bajpai were born," Dr Gandhi said.
He said, "It is a deep-rooted conspiracy of Delhi leaders and their henchmen in Punjab to divert the attention of people and defame us through baseless, ridiculous and fake propaganda and prevent their poster boy from being exposed among people. First, they used Himmat Singh Shergill
through his baseless charges against Khalsa and now the central leaders have themselves come in the open to label similar charges against me.
It appears to be the habit of central leadership of AAP to dub every dissenting voice as an agent of the BJP or other political parties. Punjab will not accept and tolerate them and will prove to be a Waterloo for the Delhi leadership and their Punjab stooges, said Dr Gandhi.
