Gang looting in priest’s guise, busted

City police have arrested Raji Nath, a resident of Tarn Taran district, a member of a gang, which looted people in the guise of priests.

City police have arrested Raji Nath, a resident of Tarn Taran district, a member of a gang, which looted people in the guise of priests.

Station House Officer (SHO), Cantonment police station, Sohan Singh said, "On July 17, two disguised persons had entered a household in Rani Ka Bagh area and robbed jewellery. We started looking out for the accused since we came to know it."

We are still looking for another accomplice namely, Buta Singh, said the SHO.

He said, "We are yet to know the background of the accused. Preliminary investigation has revealed that this gang has become active recently and started entering houses in priest's costumes."

The police, which also recovered some jewellery, claimed that more revelations will come up after further investigation.
