Govt allocates Rs 56 crore for flood control

The state government had allocated Rs 56 crore for flood control, of which Rs 6 crore would be spent in districts of Doaba region of the state.

Chief parliamentary secretary (CPS), irrigation, Sohan Singh Thandal stated this while addressing a flood control review meeting with department officials from different districts. “Rs 2.08 crore will be spent on drains in Phagwara division and Rs 1.97 crore in Jalandhar division.

To strengthen the dhussi bundhs, we have sent a Rs 63-crore proposal to the Central Water Commission for approval,” he said. “All the deputy commissioners hav been directed to ensure that polluted water is not released into rivers and other water resources,” he added.
