With an aim to create pressure on the government, state unit president of the union Satigur Manjhi on Saturday sat on an ‘amaran anshan’.
He accused the Punjab government of discrimination with the chowkidars (night watchmen).
He said how poor chowkidars could ensure a meal to their families at `800 per month.
When contacted, Sangrur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Anita Darshi said the district administration could not do anything to solve their issue, as their demands were with the state government.
“We tried to talk them, but they did not give any memorandum to us for the government,” she added.
