Hailstorm damages upto 20% wheat crops in Shahkot, Nakodar

Mild and heavy hailstorm accompanied by rains and fast winds damaged wheat crop in several villages in Shahkot tehsil on Friday morning. Tehsildar Inderdev Singh said hailstorm lashed Bagga, Dhandowal, Fazalwal, Ruanta, Bhudannwal, Sindhrran, Dharmiwal, Parjian, Bhadma, Sanda, Baupur, Rampur and Shalapur villages twice on Friday. He said that he has received a report of 10-20% loss to wheat, potato, fodder and oil seed crops.

Nakodar agriculture officer Harpal Singh said hailstorm lashed Gandhran, Bhodipur, Kotla Bhagu, Nurpur, Billa Nawab, Durgapur, Uggi and Chuhar villages on Friday morning and caused 20% loss to standing wheat and other crops. Earlier on Monday night hailstorm had ruined crops in Nurmahal sub-tehsil and Nakodar sub-division.
