High Court has issued a notice of motion for October 6 to Punjab Wakf board over dispossession of a land in Nurmahal.
Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain issued notice while hearing a petition filed by Block Development and Panchayat officer Nurmahal and others. The court ordered that the dispossession of the petitioners shall remain stayed.
The petitioners have challenged the order passed by the Wakf Board declaring land measuring more than 17 kanals situated on the Mandi road its property.
They argued that merely by issuance of notification under section 5 of the Wakf Act 1995 , the Wakf Board cannot be clothed with the rights of ownership until and unless dedicated and long user of the property in dispute is proved.
