Officials from the health department collected two food samples, including chapati and kadhi pakora from dabbawala in the Basti Sheikh and also visited anotheroutlet in Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar.
The team included district health officer Dr Balwinder Singh, food safety inspectors Dr Harjotpal Singh and Dr Sukhrao Singh and issued guidelines and instructions.
Civil surgeon Dr RL Bassan said " We are taking up this issue on priority. We will organise a special drive during Diwali from October 15 against the sale and preparation of poor quality sweets and other food items."
He claimed that the department was also educating dabbawalas on how to prepare food so that chances of contamination are reduced.
Four employees died while more than thirty other employees fell critically ill, within a few minutes of having lunch on April 11 at Chinar Forge Limited. The food was supplied by a supplier preparing preparing food outside the premises at a rented accommodation.
