Heavy rain in and around Pathankot threw life out of gear on Friday as waterlogged roads compelled commuters to stay in doors till noon.
Several colonies were waterlogged and entrance gates of many banks remained blocked due to the accumulation of water.
Abrol Nagar Road, Dhaki Road, Kali Mata Mandir Road and main bazaar were worst hit as rainwater collected there creating traffic jams. While near Military Hospital, a truck remained stranded on waterlogged underbridge road and driver of the truck managed to come out with the help of locals.
Vehicle-riders faced difficulties in wading through the water. "I had almost fallen from my two wheeler as I could not maintain balance on the broken road in main bazaar," rued Tilak Raj, a senior citizen. The administration had failed to provide smooth roads where persons like him mostly sustained injuries, he said.
Darshan Singh, a resident from Abrol Nagar, said they were not able to come out of their house as the road was waterlogged.
