High court contempt notice to Jalandhar deputy commissioner

Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday initiated contempt of court proceedings against former Jalandhar deputy commissioner (DC) Priyank Bharti and current DC Shruti Singh, for failing to comply with the court’s order passed on August 23, 2012.

Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday initiated contempt of court proceedings against former Jalandhar deputy commissioner (DC) Priyank Bharti and current DC Shruti Singh, for failing to comply with the court’s order passed on August 23, 2012.

A civil writ petition in this matter was filed by Manit Malhotra, a local BJP leader, against the illegal construction of shops by the Congress Bhawan authorities, following which the court had ordered deputy commissioner, who is also the chairperson of Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT), to inquire into the allegations and take necessary action within three months.
