Home guards platoon commander held for accepting bribe

The vigilance bureau sleuths on Thursday caught a platoon commander of home guards accepting bribe of Rs 5,000. The accused has been identified as Parminder Singh, platoon commander of urban company at Sangrur.

The vigilance bureau sleuths on Thursday caught a platoon commander of home guards accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.

The accused has been identified as Parminder Singh, platoon commander of urban company at Sangrur. Sursh Arora, chief director-cum-director general of police (vigilance bureau) said acting on the complaint Iqbal Singh of Ram Basti, Sangrur, who had been dismissed from service as a volunteer in Punjab home guard and civil defence department a few years ago, local VB officials arrested the accused.

As per available information, the accused official was demanding bribe to reinstate his job in the department. "We laid a trap and arrested Parminder while accepting bribe in the presence of government witnesses," he said.
