Husband booked for dowry harassment

The police have booked Vijay Kumar, a resident of Bilga village, and his father Surinder Kumar for breach of trust, subjecting a woman to cruelty over dowry, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and committing crime with common intention.

The police have booked Vijay Kumar, a resident of Bilga village, and his father Surinder Kumar for breach of trust, subjecting a woman to cruelty over dowry, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and committing crime with common intention.

Parveen Kumari, alias Priya, a resident of Bilga complained to the police that she was being forced to bring more dowry since her marriage with Vijay Kumar in 2013.

She alleged that her husband and father-in-law beat her up mercilessly on March 1 and even tried to set her afire. She was seriously injured and was admitted to the civil hospital.

Investigating officer Jaswinder Singh said that a case was registered under sections 34 (committing crime with common intention) 323(voluntarily causing hurt) 406 (breach of trust) 498-A( husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
