If Badal does not want me to contest elections, I will opt out: Sidhu

As uncertainty prevails over the candidature of sitting BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, the cricketer-turned-politician has fired yet another salvo at the Badals indicating that he was ready to opt out of the Lok Sabha race if chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asks him to do so in public.

As uncertainty prevails over the candidature of sitting BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, the cricketer-turned-politician has fired yet another salvo at the Badals indicating that he was ready to opt out of the Lok Sabha race if chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asks him to do so in public.

"I am not a beggar and if Badal saab wants me not to contest, I am willing to leave my stake in the Amritsar seat but will not leave Amritsar and its people," said Navjot Sidhu.

Sidhu who had taken on the Badals last September on the issue of development in his constituency said, "I have no personnel issues with anyone. Whatever I did was for Amritsar. It was my duty and the voters of the holy city have given me the power to raise their issues."
