CM’s visit comes in the wake of escalation in tension along the Indo-Pak border, following surgical attack across line of control by India. The Punjab chief minister directed food and civil supply department to depute special officers for ensuring quick procurement and lifting of grains from the border region. A large number of old, women and kids had evacuated from around 365 border villages in Ferozepur district while majority of men and youth preferred to stay back at their respective areas to guard the livestock and ripe paddy crop. Defending the move of evacuating people, Badal claimed he was following orders of Central government.

“It’s wrong to compare Punjab with other border states as it’s far more densely populated than other states along with Indo-Pak border,” said Badal. “All the political parties should desist from issuing provocative statements in wake of impending crisis on Indo-Pak border in larger national interest,” stated Badal. “It’s unfortunate that several leaders are engaging in politics at this critical juncture, when clouds of war, are hovering over the country,” he charged.

Meanwhile Badal justifying his visits claimed that they were solely aimed at sharing grief of border residents and instilling confidence among them.

“I am visiting border villages to be among the brave people of this region who are ready to make any sacrifice for their country but unfortunately my fellow friends do not see anything beyond politics”, he claimed. While addressing gatherings in border villages of Tendiwala, Hazara Singh Wala and Ghazniwala, Badal, Badal exhorted people to be beware of rumour mongers.

“I will raise the issue with Union government to start a special recruitment drive enabling youth of border areas to join army.

‘IT WAS NECESSARY TO TEACH PAK A LESSON’

FAZILKA: Supporting the surgical strikes in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK), Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said that, “It was necessary to teach Pakistan a lesson for its anti-India moves,”

Badal was on his visit to a relief camp at Fazilka. “India has always been a votary of peace but Pakistan has considered this as our weakness,” said Badal.

“Be it Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Narendra Modi, both Indian Prime Minister, have always worked for promoting ethos of peace but Pakistan has backstabbed India,” charged Badal. “Pakistan has been testing patience of India by sponsoring attacks in Mumbai, Parliament House and other places but it crossed all the limits by Uri attack,” charged Badal.

“We will release pending compensation of farmers whose lands are across the fence,” assured Badal.
