The march began from the New Grain Market and ended at the deputy commissioner's office where union representatives submitted a memorandum of nine demands.

Their demands also included regularisation of labourers of food agencies in Punjab such as the Food Corporation of India.

Union's state president Sukhdev Singh said that food agencies of Punjab should issue an identity card, and implement the Employee's State Insurance Corporation (ESI Scheme) for labourers of food agencies. He also demanded an exact time table for the labourers' work.

Criticising the job of loading paddy and wheat to trading agents, he said Punjab's food agencies should deposit half the employee provident fund of their labourers as per the Labour Act.

Singh demanded that a meeting of the committee set up by the labour commission be held.
