Man booked for threatening excise official

The police have booked a man for allegedly threatening an official of the excise and taxation department of dire consequences if he did releasing his vehicles impounded for the evasion of value-added tax (VAT).

The police have booked a man for allegedly threatening an official of the excise and taxation department of dire consequences if he did releasing his vehicles impounded for the evasion of value-added tax (VAT). On a complaint by excise and taxation officer Kulwinder Verma, the police have booked Mangal Kumar, a resident of Bathinda, under sections 353, 186 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Verma alleged that he had impounded two vehicles of Kumar recently for evading VAT but he was threatening him to face the consequences if he didn't release the vehicles.
