Man, son killed as roof collapses on them in Sangrur
As per information, when the incident took place Pappu was sleeping along with his two minor sons and his wife had gone to bring water.
A man and his son were killed on the spot after the roof of their rented room collapsed in Sunam on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Pappu Ram , 32, a labourer, and Rohit Kumar, 8. Another five-year-old son of Pappu was injured.
As per information, when the incident took place Pappu was sleeping along with his two minor sons and his wife had gone to bring water.
The residents of the area said that the family was living in a rented room and its condition was ‘very poor’. “When the roof collapsed, we made repeated calls on ‘108’ helpline for an ambulance, but it did not reach on time,” said Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sunam.
However, landlord Prem Chand said that the roof of the room collapsed due to heavy rain and the condition of the house was otherwise good .
Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and started investigations. “The duo died on the spot and the deceased’s another son, who was injured, is under treatment in a hospital,” said Sunam DSP William Jeji.
