The programme is being conducted under the project, Punjab English Language Teaching Initiative (PELTI) —a joint venture of the Punjab government and British Council.

Kunaal Sharma, a trainer, British Council, said the training was aimed at imparting learner-centred teaching methodology in English to teachers so that they could understand the rationale behind specific techniques of teaching.

“Teachers, through various group activities like mingling, throw ball and chain cycle activity, etc, learn to ensure the maximum participation of students in classrooms,” he said.

“Besides, these teachers have been given tips on classroom management, monitoring, pair and group work, and active planning, etc,” he added.

Amandeep Singh, coordinator, said, “The idea is to train to master teachers so that they can further disseminate the new teaching tips taught to them during the four-day programme here.”
