MC members' honorarium hiked

The Haryana government has increased the honorarium paid to mayors, senior deputy mayors, deputy mayors and councillors of municipal corporations in the state.

The Haryana government has increased the honorarium paid to mayors, senior deputy mayors, deputy mayors and councillors of municipal corporations in the state.

In a release issued on Thursday, urban local bodies minister Savitri Jindal said that the honorarium of the mayor had been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 per month.

Likewise, the monthly honorarium of senior deputy mayors had been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, of deputy mayors from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 and of councillors from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 per month, she said.

In addition to this, the monthly entertainment allowance of mayors has also been increased from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000, she added.
