He was produced before deputy commissioner of police SP Joshi on Tuesday, who remanded Singh and co-accused Balwant Singh Gopala to preventive custody till April 18.

Both have been lodged in Amritsar prison since March 29, a day after Punjab observed a bandh against the death sentence awarded to Babbar Khalsa militant Balwant Singh Rajoana.

Meanwhile, radical Sikh organisation Dal Khalsa slammed the Parkash Singh Badal-led government, accusing it of resorting to "vendetta politics" by extending Mohkam's detention.

"The government is prolonging the detention of people like Mohkam Singh for reasons that are not legal. The government, by doing so, is curbing their fundamental rights and resorting to vendetta politics which is condemnable," Dal Khalsa's spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said.
