The accused were identified as Satinder Singh alias Balli and Sukhwinder Singh Sukha, residents of Marhawa village and Daljeet Singh Vicky of Bhangoo village. However, Jatinder Singh and Buta Singh were still at large.

Senior superintendent of police Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said, in a press release on Wednesday, that the gang was active in the area and had stolen a Maruti car from Zirakpur, a bullet motorcycle from Nalahas village, and a motorbike each from Hansali and Morinda villages.

He added that the gang members fixed duplicate registration plates on the stolen vehicles and later sold them.

The SSP said that the police had laid a trap on the basis of information that the gang members were going from Kalaud village to Bassi Pathana town to sell the stolen bikes when the three were arrested. A case was registered under sections 379, 411 and 473 of the IPC.
