Satnam Singh Chahal, executive director of North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) said that if the Sikh organisations and Gurdwara managing committees in United States failed to educate children on Sikh tradition, culture, and language and redress their issues then the proposed visit of SGPC delegation SGPC cannot do anything.
Chahal reaction came after the announcement of SGPC chief to visit United States along with other members of the SGPC.
Chahal said that SGPC chief should clear the air on his trategy for propagation of Sikhism in United States.H
He said that recent news reports published in a section of the media that 49 per cent of the Americans believe Sikhism is an Islamic sect.
News reports also quoted this alarming that majority of the Americans associate those donning turbans with assassinated Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
Chahal further added that this was the known fact that the confusion in USA and other western countries about the exclusive and distinct Sikh identity reflects the total failure of our religious organisations including gurdwara managing committees to create awareness about the most nascent religion of the world.
He said that it was a known fact that majority of the sikhs who were attacked or shot dead were clean shaven and there were only few numbers of Sikhs who were attacked or shot dead in their traditional Sikh uniform look.
