The victims have been identified as Gagandeep Singh (25), an unmarried youth of Badbar village in Baranala district, and Sumandeep Kaur (23), wife of Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Quila Hakeema of Longowal subdivision in Sangrur district.
According to Satender Kumar, in-charge of government railway police, Sangrur, the GRP guards recovered the bodies on Tuesday night. After investigation, they have been handed over to the families, he added. The police have also recovered a motorcycle near the spot where the bodies were found.
According to the police, Sumandeep Kaur of Bahadurpur got married to Lakhwinder four months ago. She allegedly fled with her paramour Gagandeep Singh on Tuesday night and they ended their life by jumping before a train, the police said. The police have registered a case under Section 174, CrPC.
