Nigerian national held with 2-kg heroin in Ludhiana

Two days after a Nigerian national was arrested in the city, the police nabbed yet another foreigner on Monday on the charge of possessing banned drugs and recovered the contraband from his possession.
The Khanna police arrested the Nigerian national with 2-kg heroin during a special checking at the Neelon canal bridge in Samrala on Monday. The police also recovered 15-gm cocaine and 18-gm ice drug from the bag that the accused, Emecca Ekechi Okalia, was carrying.
Khanna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dhruv Dahiya said, “The accused was putting up at Ramapark in New Delhi. A case under Section 21/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was been registered against the accused at the Samrala police station.”
The arrest of the foreign national is the second in the past three days. Earlier on Saturday, the police had arrested a Nigerian national and recovered 300-gm heroin from his possession.
Psychotropic drugs recovered
In another case, the police recovered psychotropic drugs from a man in Ghungrali Sikhan village during patrolling on Monday. The accused has been identified as Sajjan Singh of Dilawarpur village in Goindwal Sahib, Tarn Taran.
SSP Dahiya said 19,980 pills were recovered from the accused and a case under Section 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered against him.
