Examination supervisors, who were appointed to conduct the December semester examination, have not received the advance payment from Panjab University to date.
Much to their dismay, the supervisors were forced to shell out money from their own pockets to pay for the staff hired by them. According to the university regulations, the advance payment is made to avail the services of watchman, sweepers and other staff.
The supervisors get the amount in advance to be allocate to the hired staff. This time, however, the supervisors the amount very late and that too less than their expenditure .
The university has sent Rs 10,000 to supervisors in the first installment, but the remaining payment is still to be paid.
Dr Hardeep Singh, supervisor, SDP College, said, “I have received only Rs 7,000. My actual expenditure was Rs 25,000. It is the first time the university has not sent the total amount in advance. We had to pay money from our own pocket. If the university fails to pay the amount on time, who will be willing to work as a supervisor next time?”
VB Sudhir, supervisor, SCD Government College, said, “I was paid Rs 10,000 recently, but expenditure at my centre was Rs 13,000. Now, we have been told to send the bills to get the remaining amount.”
Asha Aneja, supervisor, GGN Khalsa College, said, “I received Rs 10,000 and I hope they will send the pending money soon. The payment of teachers has been sent to the principals.”
NO SUCH PROBLEM IN PAYMENTS: PU OFFICAL
PU examination controller Parminder Singh said: “There is no problem in the payment process. We are making the payments on time. The online process has been established and payment will be sent to the accounts.”
