No sale of liquor before 9am, clarifies Punjab govt

In response to a letter from Avinash Rai Khanna, Rajya Sabha MP and national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Punjab government has clarified that liquor vends in the state do not open before 9am.

In a letter written to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal in June last year, Khanna had asked the government to regulate the sale of liquor at vends across the state to restrict its availability and ‘uninhibited’ flow.

The BJP leader had sought the CM’s intervention to fix the timings of liquor sale at vends.
