The NRI Commission Wednesday sought a detailed report from SSP Patiala by August 24 regarding a dowry complaint filed by a woman against her Italy-based NRI husband.
According to a complaint filed by Harmanjeet Kaur, she was harassed by her in-laws for dowry since her marriage in 2007, a spokesperson of the commission said here Wednesday.
Kaur has also alleged that her parents had given Rs 10 lakh to her in-laws to help her husband get permanent residency in Italy.
The spokesperson said the commission sought a detailed report from SSP Patiala in this case and also ordered to look into the allegations made in the complaint and take appropriate action.
The commission also asked inspector general (NRI Affairs), who is also a nodal officer for NRI Affairs in Punjab, to look into the matter.
