Total 13,218 candidates appeared in the exam out of 30,000 registered candidates, thus making the attendance to 44%.

Mahavir Singh, assistant divisional railway manager (ADRM), Ferozepur Division, said, "The candidates seem to have learnt the value of reaching on time, which is the reason the attendance has increased in last three phases and hopefully the trend will continue."

During earlier phases, the exam centre for candidates from Punjab, Haryana, J&K and Himachal Pradesh, used to be Jammu only. However, this is for the first time, Ludhiana was chosen as centre for the Ferozepur Division candidates.

Candidates from all these neighbouring states thronged Ludhiana to appear for the exam on Sunday. Some of them also faced difficulty in reaching their centres on time due to Jagan Nath Rath Yatra in city.

After the exam was over, passengers had a tough time and trains like Shaheed Express and Malwa Express were completely packed, leaving no space for daily passengers.
