In a statement, Dr Sidhu stated: “The army has put a restriction on construction within the periphery of 1,000 yard of the ammunition dump. Due to which, people are denied the basic amenities like sewerage, roads, etc. Even they are not allowed to construct their houses, which collapsed due to natural calamities.”

The ammunition dump came into existence in 2004, but the people were staying there since long, she said.

Stating that the defence minister has assured her that he will definitely solve the problem by June end, Dr Sidhu said she had taken the matter with former defence Ministers AK Antony and Arun Jaitley in the past.
