PSPCPL lineman killed in road accident

Gurmail Singh, a lineman with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), was killed in a road accident on the Sangrur-Patiala road near Mastuana Sahib gurdwara here on Sunday.

Gurmail Singh, a lineman with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), was killed in a road accident on the Sangrur-Patiala road near Mastuana Sahib gurdwara here on Sunday.

The accident took place when Gurmail (57) was on his way to Bhindran village on his scooter, a speeding car coming from the opposite direction rammed into the scooter.

In the accident, Gurmail was injured seriously and died on way to the Sangrur civil hospital. Sangrur (sadar) police station in charge Deepinderpal Singh said the driver of the car managed to flee the spot leaving behind his car, which was impounded by police.

After a post-mortem, the body was handed over to the victim’s family and the driver of the car was booked under sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 427(mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he added.
