Rakhi says sorry for comments on Valmiki, Ludhiana lawyer to withdraw case
Rakhi apologised to the complainant on Friday.
Almost two years after a local lawyer, Narinder Adiya, filed a case against actress Rakhi Sawant for allegedly making objectionable remarks against sage Valmiki during a television show, Rakhi apologised to the complainant on Friday. The lawyer and the actress held a joint press conference, where Rakhi handed over the apology letter.
The next hearing of the case, filed on July 9, 2016, was on May 17. Adiya said he would withdraw the petition as the actress has realised her mistake. During the trial, the court of judicial magistrate Vishav Gupta had issued multiple arrest warrants as she failed to appear before it. In August 2017, she was granted regular bail, after making an appearance.
Addressing the media, Rakhi said she had apologised to the Valmiki community for her remarks. “The complainant is like my brother and so is the Valmiki community. Our lawyer has managed to strike a compromise with the complainant and the issue is resolved now,” she added, with her lawyer RS Mand seated beside side.
