The prisoners, who were brought to the Attari border on Friday morning, were handed over to the Pakistani Rangers by the Indian authorities in the afternoon.

Of those released, 32 were languishing in Gujarat jails, three in Amritsar, one in Kolkata and one in Ferozepur.

Happy on being released, the Pakistani prisoners thanked the Indian authorities and requested that fisher men must be dealt with leniency.

Notably, after being invited by India to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced the release of 151 Indian fishermen.
