RMOs seek merger with health and family welfare department

Rural medical officers (RMOs), at a meeting held here on Wednesday, demanded their merger with the health and family welfare department on the pattern of the merger for ETT teachers and rural veterinary doctors with their respective parent departments.

The state cabinet, at a meeting on September 2, the state government approved the merger of ETT teachers and rural veterinary doctors with their respective departments. The RMOs asked the government to also merge them in the health & family welfare.

Dr Harmeet Singh, a representative of RMOs, said, "This merger will solve many problems being faced by RMOs, patients and the government also such as the shortage of doctors on emergency duty and patients suffering from the lack of medicines at the village level and lack of proper channel for various referral facilities."
