Robbers from Sirsa killed Barnala ASI: SSP

The mystery shrouding the murder of Barnala police assistant sub-inspector was solved on Tuesday as police said it had arrested two of the accused who had confessed to their crime.

The mystery shrouding the murder of Barnala police assistant sub-inspector was solved on Tuesday as police said it had arrested two of the accused who had confessed to their crime.

Barnala SSP Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said Jagga Singh of Tarana, Falel Singh Fella and Makhan Singh of Beeruwala, all in Sirsa district, killed ASI Harbhajan Singh. The gang was also wanted in a number of cases of robbery and loot in Punjab and Haryana.

The ASI's body was found dumped at a brick kiln on February 5 in Chappa village of Mehalkalan sub-division.

The Barnala police had detained Jagga and Fella from Patiala. The duo was arrested by Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) wing of Patiala police on Saturday night in a different case of robbery registered in September last year.

Makhan Singh, said to be the gang leader , is wanted in 53 cases of robbery in Punjab and Haryana and is still at large.

The gang has been active in robberies in Punjab and Haryana, especially in bordering districts of these two states.
