Punjab director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora on Sunday said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will start its probe into the killing of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain from next week.
The people behind the killing want to create law and order trouble in the state. Punjab Police will provide every possible help to the NIA to solve the case.
The DGP was here to meet family members of the leader, who was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Kailash Nagar on October 17. “Some people hiding in foreign countries are responsible for the killing and this is the reason why the investigation of the case has been transferred to NIA,” the state police chief told reporters.
“It is a very sensitive case and the police have been working on different angles. The people behind the killing want to create law and order trouble in the state. Punjab Police will provide every possible help to the NIA to solve the case as soon as possible,” he added.
“The NIA can easily coordinate with foreign investigating agencies and it will be a huge advantage,” said the DGP, who also visited the crime scene. sThe killing of the RSS leader was the latest in a series of murderous attacks on right-wing and religious leaders in Punjab. This was the eighth such incident in the state since 2016.
Satisfied with probe: Gosain’s son
Deepak Gosain, son of slain RSS leader Ravinder Gosain, said the family was satisfied with the probe and is hopeful that the killers will be behind bars soon.
