"So far, we have arranged Rs 50,000 for the boy so that expenses on medicines can be met, but I will personally take up his case with the chief minister and ensure appropriate financial relief from the CM's discretionary fund," Pargat told HT.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrange for free-of-cost medical treatment for the boy, said Pargat, who was accompanied by Ropar MLA Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema and sub-divisional magistrate Iqbal Singh Sandhu.

Akash lost his legs when he was trying to get down from a running train near the cantonment railway station on Tuesday.

Akash is a talented hockey player and was undergoing training in an academy in Ludhiana.
