The Sahnewal police arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly raping minor daughter of his neighbour here on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Lakshman of Neechi Mangli in Sahnewal.
In his complaint to the police, the victim's father alleged that taking advantage of her loneliness, the accused raped her daughter on January 11.

The complainant alleged that his daughter had told him that in his absence the accused barged in the house and raped her. He immediately sounded the police and lodged an FIR.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satnam Singh, in-charge at Ramgarh police post, said the police arrested the accused on Saturday. The accused will be produced before the court on Sunday.

He said the case was registered following the statement of the victim's father.
