A few years ago improvement trust had come up with the plan to develop SST Nagar and two other colonies as residential area.
The SST Nagar which is considered to be a posh area of the city has always been complaining of lack of basic amenities. However, this time SST Nagar has no access to water for past one month. The residents have been using submersible and monoblock pumps to extract water from ground. However, the extracted water contains mud and is not clean.
Colony resident Amandeep Aggarwal said, the motor of the water tank has malfunctioned 10 times in past one year. He said MC has not been able to permanently fix it. And now, for over a month, the pump has not been working at all and despite repeated complaints, no has turned up for its repair, he said.
Meanwhile, MC executive officer Parminder Singh Bhatti said, he would send a repairing team and it would be resolved soon. Aggarwal said apart from pump malfunctioning, the water leakage from tank’s reservoir and pipes was also an issue and it leads to water-logging on the ground, which damages the roads.
Bhatti said he would ensure that the leakage was stopped permanently.
