Shiv Sena leader attack case: Gurdaspur court begins hearing through video-conferencing

A local court conducted hearing of the prime accused and three of his accomplices allegedly involved in the assault on Shiv Sena Punjab secretary Harvinder Soni through video conferencing here on Monday.
The accused is lodged in the Gurdaspur central jail, while the court conducted hearing from the courts complex in Gurdaspur. The court has fixed May 18 for the next hearing.
The prime accused, Kashmir Singh — who had allegedly shot at Soni while he was playing volleyball in a Fish Park court in Gurdaspur on April 12 — and three of his accomplices were sent by a local court on April 20 into judicial custody till May 4. They were in police custody for two days and aging for four days before April 20.
The three accomplices of Kashmir Singh of Galwadi village under Khanna police district in Ludhiana are — Inderpal Singh of Gurdaspur; Gurjit Singh of Wadala Granthian village in Batala police district; and Anurag of Kalaspur village in Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Kashmir had allegedly pumped a bullet into Soni’s stomach by a .315 bore illegal country-made pistol.
Soni received first aid at the Gurdaspur civil hospital, but was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Amritsar later. He was discharged from Fortis Hospital on April 19.
Kashmir had allegedly procured the pistol used in the crime from Muradabad with the help of Anurag, who was working as a labourer with a building contractor at Galwadi village in Khanna police district, where Kashmir also lived.
Anurag had reportedly accompanied Kashmir from Khanna to Muradabad to procure the pistol and cartridges for Rs 11,000.
Inderpal and Gurjit had helped Kashmir in conducting recce of Soni’s house and shop and the park, where he used to go for walk every morning, and gave him shelter.
Kashmir was arrested a few yards away from the site, while his accomplices were arrested from different places the same day.
