Six held for illegal sand mining in Shahkot

The local police have arrested Lehmbar Singh, Pardeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Navpreet Singh and Balbir Singh, all residents of Kand Sahib Rai village, in connection with the alleged illegal sand mining.

The local police have arrested Lehmbar Singh, Pardeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Navpreet Singh and Balbir Singh, all residents of Kand Sahib Rai village, in connection with the alleged illegal sand mining.

Station house officer (SHO) Harjit Singh said that block mining officer Pawan Kumar complained to the police that the accused violated order of the Punjab and Haryana high court and Punjab Mining Act by indulging in illegal sand mining.

Cases under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act, has been registered against the accused and their tractor trolleys loaded with illegal sand impounded. The Bilga police also arrested Amrik Singh a resident of Dhaliwal village for illegal sand mining.
