Sorcerer booked for raping minor girl

A sorcerer allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl on the pretext of treatment in the Hargobind Nagar area of Focal Point. The accused had allegedly told to parents of the victim that the girl was possessed by evil spirits.

The accused has been identified as Zakir Ansari of Hargobind Nagar in Gyaspura. He was booked for rape on Thursday and was absconding since then.

In his complaint, the victim's father, a resident of Makkar colony in Gyaspura, said as daughter remained frequently ill and he took her to the accused, whom he knew for the past eight years. He alleged that the accused took his daughter along with him to get her rid of evil spirits.

The complainant alleged on pretext of treatment the accused raped his daughter and threatened her to keep mum.
He further alleged that when he resented, the accused threatened him with dire consequences following which he lodged a complaint against the accused at the Focal Point police station.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kiran Singh, who is investigating the matter, said a case under section 376 (rape) of the Indian penal code and sections 4 and of the Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse Act was registered against the accused. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.

Earlier, in a similar case, the Model Town police booked sorcerer Rajesh Kakkar alias Mintoo Baba of Jawaddi for raping a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of treatment on September 7. The accused is also at large.
