Speeding car kills couple, accused flees spot

On their way to attend a wedding, a couple was killed by a speeding car on Saturday afternoon near Guja Peer.The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Sharma (40) and his wife Monica Sharma (38), residents of Bhateja Colony, Rajpura.

On a complaint filed by the deceased's brother Amandeep Sharma, police registered a case against the unidentified driver of the Bolero car (PB08 CB 9492).

Police said the couple was going to attend a wedding when a speeding Bolero car coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle (PB39Q 3209), killing both of them on the spot.

Police have taken the car into custody and registered a case under sections 279 and 304a of the IPC against the unidentified driver who fled the spot. A police official said efforts were on to trace the culprit.
