Stage set for PAU for Food, craft mela
The College of Home Science (COHS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is all set to hold for the Food and Craft Mela, from Tuesday.
The College of Home Science (COHS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is all set to hold for the Food and Craft Mela, from Tuesday.
Under the theme 'Tradition and Innovation in Food and Craft', the mela will be jointly organised by the College of Home Science, Department of Food Science and Technology, Department of Agricultural Processing and Food Engineering, and the Home Science Association. Dr Mangal Singh Sandhu, director of agriculture, Punjab will be the chief guest while Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, vice- chancellor, PAU will preside over the mela. The mela will be open to all from 10 am.
Giving details, Dr Jasvinder Kaur Sangha, dean, College of Home Science, said various stake-holders from industry, self-help groups and budding entrepreneurs, engaged in food and craft, will participate in the mela. "Besides, the mela will provide a platform to students to interact with these stake-holders and develop a spirit of entrepreneurship. The students will also get an enriching experience and exposure to the real world problems. There will be a lot of fun during the mela where festivities will be marked through food, frolic and games, she added," she added. Nearly 50 stalls exhibiting traditional food preparations, innovative food items and handicrafts with emphasis on Diwali gifts will be put up.
