Standing wheat crop on 10 acres of land in Talania village was destroyed in a sudden fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon.

A fire tender from Mandi Gobindgarh reached the site after about one hour to douse the fire. However, it was not clear as how the fire broke out in the area which had caused major damage to the crop before the fire tenders arrived.

Land owner Charmal Singh of village Dera Mir Mian, said that the fire broke out at about 3 pm. When the fire tenders controlled the fire, the crop and stubble on the 10 and 2 acres of land had been completely damaged.

Police officials also reached the site within few minutes, He alleged that when he rang up the fire brigade office at Sirhind no one came to douse the fire. He said thereafter he informed the Mandi Gobindgarh fire brigade officials However, the fire tender reached after about one hour.

He urged the government to grant compensation so that he could feed his family members.
