State grants Rs 90 crore for micro irrigation projects

Haryana government has approved Rs 90 crore for micro irrigation under a national mission for the ongoing financial year. A spokesperson said that Centre of Excellence for Fruits, set up with the co-operation of Israel government at village Magiyana in Sirsa, is a model of micro irrigation system along with production of fruits.

A spokesperson said that Centre of Excellence for Fruits, set up with the co-operation of Israel government at village Magiyana in Sirsa, is a model of micro irrigation system along with production of fruits. He said farmers are getting information about benefits of drip irrigation system alongwith other techniques of fruit cultivation from the Centre.

He said that keeping in view the popularity of micro irrigation systems amongst the farmers, a target has been set to cover above 90,000 hectares under micro irrigation during 12th five-year plan in Haryana. He said that during the previous year, 31,784 hectares of land had been covered under drip irrigation system.
