An official spokesperson said on Friday here that Punjab chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal had issued written instructions to the deputy commissioners that in case of this unfortunate incident, determining of the eligibility and identification of the recipient should be quick, so that the payment to the affected family could be made the same day. The DCs would take ex-facto approval from the competent authority for the same, later.
BKU discusses whom to support in 2017 polls
The Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) convened a special meeting on Friday at Punjab Kisan Bhawan here to decide whom to support in the next year’s assembly elections in the state. Punjab BKU president Baldev Singh Mianpur chaired the meeting. Former MP and BKU national president Bhupinder Singh Mann was present. The BKU will have meetings with all prominent political parties, for which Bhupinder Singh Mann was authorised to initiate discussions. The BKU is support parties that will include agricultural, social and governance issues in their common minimum programme.
