Teachers' protest over re-appointment of DRP

The elementary teachers union, government teachers' union, democratic teachers' front and SC/BC teachers' union have shown resentment over the re-appointment of Gursharan Singh as district resource person under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

The union members conducted a meeting in which it was decided that the director general school education office (DGSE) must take back their orders otherwise the unions will hold protests.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Balwinder Singh, president of SC/BC teachers' union, Ludhiana, said, “Gursharan Singh was earlier working as the district resource person in SSA office, Ludhiana, but he used unparliamentarily language for SC category and that was why he was left out from the SSA office last year.”

A case was also registered against Singh in Dhaka police station. Now, the higher authorities have appointed him as a district resource person, which is unfair.

Therefore union members have shown resentment against this order and want that the DGSE office must depute some other person for the particular post.
