The three snatchers have been identified as Pariyas Ram alias Popli, Jadjit Singh alias Ladi and Harpreet Singh, while the POs include Sukhdev Singh of Krishna Nagar, and Ashutosh and Ashish Kumar, both residents of Delhi.
Police commissioner RP Mittal said a stolen motorcycle had been recovered from Popli, who had confessed that he had stolen the bike with the help of Gaganbir Pina and Anu Mental from Lohgarh. He also admitted that he had snatched an i-phone from a man in Ranjit Avenue.
Efforts are on to arrest Gaganbir Pina and Anu Mental, who are involved in many other criminal cases. Mittal said Jadjit Singh alias Ladi and Harpreet of Dhaul Kalan village were nabbed at a checkpoint.
A stolen motorcycle and 50 grams of opiate were recovered from each of them. They confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Lawrence Road and snatching a woman’s purse. A case under section 379-B, IPC has been registered.
Mittal said they had also tried to snatch a woman’s purse near Police Lines on February 19. “We’ll produce them in court and seek their remand,” he said.
