Top Contenders for Bathinda battle

Bathinda parliamentary seat became general in the 2009 delimitation. The SAD, Congress and the CPI all have remained successful in winning the seat in the past. Akali factions have won it nine times whereas the Congress only four times and failed to retain the seat after 1992. The CPI won it in 1971 and 1999. The BSP never won the seat but it gets considerable votes.

Became active in social work through the Nanhi Chhaan before her political debut in the 2009 elections. Claims to be a housewife but looks after the family business. Replicated the sangat darshan programmes of CM Badal in her constituency.

Fond of books and cars, Manpreet loves to drive. He has good oratorial skills. Studied abroad but mingles easily with rural people. Has good links with the Congress high command.

A greenhorn in politics, he claims the corrupt system killed his father. His first Punjabi film ‘Bikkar Bai Sentimental’ was a flop but it did not dishearten him. Has been spending from own pocket to run his campaign.
