The Division Number 6 police have booked the accused, Rohit Kumar of New Shivaji Nagar, for abetment to suicide following a complaint by the victim's parents. The deceased, Dimple Bagga, was a student of Class 10 at Green Land Senior Secondary School.

According to her father, Ashok Bagga, Dimple was alone at home when she took the extreme step. He only got the news that she had jumped off the third floor of the house and neighbours had rushed her to Christian Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.

Bagga said Rohit Kumar, a BA student, had been harassing his daughter for a long time. She had narrated the matter to them and they had warned the youth.

On Monday, when Dimple, along with her classmates, went to Hardy's World Amusment Park as part of a school trip, Kumar reached there too and harassed her, he alleged, adding that Dimple had sounded her school principal about the matter, and the latter had informed them.

Bagga said they were about to take up the matter with Kumar's parents, but bowing to the harassment Dimple ended her life before they could do anything.

Inspector Sandeep Wadhera, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 6 police station, said a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the accused, who is at large.

Ashok was a councillor from ward number 18. His wife, Anju Bagga, is also a former councillor. Dimple was the lone sister of three brothers.
